  • “Jesus shows us how good God is.”

Opening Prayer (echo prayer)

Children repeat after you:

Thank You for loving us.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You for the Bible,
Your special book.
Help us listen and obey.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”

God is so good,
God is so good,
He’s so good to me.”

Motions: point up on “God,” hug self on “to me.”

Lesson

Sit kids in a circle, Bible in your hands. Have a small basket with a few “good gifts” pictures or objects: toy food, small heart, small house, small cross.

a) Good gifts object talk
Show the toy food (or picture).
  • “Food is a good gift. We eat food so we can grow and be strong. God gives us food.”
Show the little house or picture of a home.
  • “Homes and places to sleep are good gifts. God gives us homes and people to care for us.”
Show the little heart.
  • “Love is a good gift. God gives us people who love us—family and friends.”
Place them in front of you.
  • “All these good things remind us that God is good.”

b) Short lesson paragraphs
Hold up the Bible.
  • “The Bible tells us that God is good. That means God is kind, loving, and always does what is right. God gives us many good things—our families, our food, our homes, our church, and so much more.”
  • “Even when hard things happen, the Bible tells us that God is still good. God never stops being good. He never stops loving us. We can trust Him.”

Use very simple wording and tone.

d) Key phrase with motions
Teach and repeat:
  • “The Bible says God is good. Jesus shows God’s goodness.”

Motions:
  • Hands like an open book on “Bible.”
  • Point up on “God.”
  • Thumbs up on “good.”
  • Point up (Jesus) and then to your heart on “shows God’s goodness.”

Say it several times: loud, whisper, standing/sitting.

e) Simple “good things” review
Ask:
  • “What good things does God give us?” (Let them answer: food, family, friends, Jesus.)
  • After each answer, say together: “God is good.”

Then ask:
  • “Who shows us that God is good?” (Jesus!)

Repeat: “The Bible says God is good. Jesus shows God’s goodness.”
c) Jesus connection
Hold up a cross picture or just point to the Bible.

“The Bible also tells us about the very best way God showed His goodness. God sent His Son, Jesus. Jesus came to teach us, to help us, and to die on the cross for our sins. Then Jesus came back to life. When we look at Jesus, we see that God is good and loves us so much.”

Craft – “God Is Good to Me” Thankful Picture

Goal:
  • Simple craft that ties “Bible helps me” to a picture they can use in a Bible at home or in class.

Steps
  • Give each child a paper. If divided into boxes, show them each box.
  • Ask: “What are some good things God gives you?” Suggest 3–4:
    • “My family.”
    • “My food.”
    • “My home.”
    • “Jesus.”
  • Help them draw one thing in each box (or glue simple pictures if you prepared them).
  • Add the phrase at the bottom or top:
    • “The Bible tells me God is good. Jesus shows God’s goodness.”
  • As they draw, label the pictures (Family, Food, Home, Jesus).

Craft talk (short paragraph as they work)
  • “You are drawing some of the good things God gives you. When we see these things, we can remember that God is good. The Bible tells us God is good, and Jesus shows us just how good God is. He loves you and takes care of you.”

  • When they are finished, have them hold up their paper and say:
“The Bible tells me God is good. Jesus shows God’s goodness.”
Supplies

  • White paper divided into 3–4 simple squares (or just blank).
  • Crayons/markers.
  • Optional: small printed pictures of common “good gifts” (food, family, house, cross, heart) to glue.
  • Label/space to write: “The Bible tells me God is good. Jesus shows God’s goodness.”

Closing Prayer (echo prayer)

Gather kids in a circle, each holding their little “Bible.”
“Dear Jesus, Thank You that God is good. Thank You for all the good things You give me each day.
Thank You for showing me God’s love and goodness. Help me trust You when I am happy and when I am sad.
Amen.”
